Over a sofa, not through it

A sectional has nowhere to take a pole, which is exactly the case this shape answers. The canopy reaches across the whole corner group and the post is behind it, out of the traffic. The manufacturer's caption notes the weighted base is not part of the product.

Foot, then hand

The two insets show the whole procedure. A pedal at the foot of the post unlocks the rotation, then you hold the post and turn. The base and everything loaded onto it stays planted. Lift nothing, drag nothing, and the furniture stays where you arranged it.

What is holding it up

This panel opens the frame up. Metal ribs spread out from the hub, the top carries a vent so wind passes through rather than under, and a triangle brace ties the arm back to the post. On a canopy hanging entirely off one side, that brace is the part doing the hardest work.

The arm hangs the canopy over your furniture from one side, so nothing stands in the middle of the group.

A gap at the crown lets air climb out of the canopy rather than pushing against the whole of it.

A diagonal strut ties the arm back to the post, which is what keeps a long overhang from nodding.

What will it cover, and how much headroom is under it?

The canopy measures 10 feet at the widest point and 9.6 feet across the flat sides, which is enough for a six seat table or a corner sofa. Underneath, the rim sits 6.5 feet off the ground and the crown 8 feet. That is comfortable at the middle and about head height at the edge, so position the post where people are not walking past the rim.

What base does it need?

The 40 inch cross frame comes in the box. The weights that sit on it do not, and this product's own dimension drawing recommends a 220 lb weighted base. Be aware the description text on the same record says 90 lb, so the manufacturer's paperwork disagrees with itself. The higher figure is the one we would size to, because a cantilever carries its whole canopy off to one side of the post.

Does the canopy tilt?

No tilt setting is published for this model. What it does have is full rotation on the foot pedal, which moves the shade around the post. If a tilting canopy matters to you, the lit models in this range list six tilt levels.

What is the winter routine?
