How do you choose a kayak cart?
Check the load capacity
Add up your kayak's weight and your gear. Choose a cart rated at least 20 percent above that total. Many recreational kayaks weigh 15 to 25 kg (33 to 55 lb).
Match the wheels to the ground
Solid or flat-free wheels of about 25 cm (10 in) suit ramps, gravel and grass. Soft sand needs wider wheels, so check the wheel size on the product page.
Check the fit
Look for adjustable width and a padded or nonslip support so the hull sits without pinching. Measure your kayak's width in centimetres before you buy.
Think about folding
A foldable kayak trolley packs into the boot beside your paddles. Compare its folded size with your vehicle's cargo space.
Secure the load

How do you use a kayak dolly?
Set the kayak on the dolly's supports, adjust the width, then strap it down. Pull the cart by the bow or stern handle on flat ground. Walk slowly on slopes, and keep the heavier end uphill on steep paths.
Can a kayak dolly carry a canoe or paddleboard?

Do you need a permit to kayak in Canada?
Rules vary by province and waterway. Many lakes need no permit for a paddle craft, but parks may charge fees. Transport Canada also sets safety gear rules, such as a life jacket for each person on board.
How big is a floating water mat?
Mats in this range start at 7.5 by 4 ft (2.3 by 1.2 m). The largest is 10 by 5 ft (3.0 by 1.5 m). The inflatable dock is 8 by 6 ft (2.4 by 1.8 m).
