Solar showers for backyards, pools and beaches

Valuhub's solar shower collection offers outdoor showers that use sunlight to warm the water. They help you rinse off after a swim, a beach day or garden work. The range centres on tall solar heated showers. Most have a foot shower, a rotating shower head and adjustable water temperature.

Valuhub Canada lists them for backyards, poolsides, cottages and beaches. They work as a poolside shower or a garden rinse station. For more outdoor gear, browse our outdoor recreation collection.

Types of outdoor shower in this collection

The range is sorted mainly by tank size. These cards group the showers the way shoppers compare them.

Large solar heated showers, about 10.6 gallons (40 L)

The largest showers hold about 10.6 gallons, or 40 litres. They suit families and busy poolsides, because a bigger tank gives more rinses before it needs a refill. Some have two shower heads and a foot faucet, so two people can rinse at once. They take longer to heat in weak sun.

Mid-size solar heated showers, about 9.2 gallons (35 L)

The mid-size showers hold about 9.2 gallons, or 35 litres. They sit between compact and large models. The 9.2 gallon model has two sections. It adds two free-rotating shower heads and foot showers, which suits beach and spa rinses.

Compact solar heated showers, about 5.3 gallons (20 L)

The compact showers hold about 5.3 gallons, or 20 litres. They heat faster and suit small patios, garden jobs and quick rinses after a swim. Some have a rotating rainfall shower head, and one shows the water temperature on a display. Browse nearby garden accessories to complete a backyard.

How do you choose a solar shower?

Match the tank size to your use

A 20 L (5.3 gal) tank suits a quick rinse. A 35 to 40 L (9.2 to 10.6 gal) tank suits a family. A common shower head runs roughly 9 L a minute. Tank size therefore sets how many minutes of hot water you get.

Check the height and space

These showers stand about 7 ft (2.1 m) tall. Measure the spot and check for low branches, roofs or fences. Leave room to step back from the water.

Look at the shower head and foot shower

A rotating shower head moves the spray without moving you. A foot shower rinses sand and grass from feet before you go inside. A rainfall head gives a wider, softer spray.

Plan for water temperature

Sun heats the water, so the day matters. Adjustable temperature lets you mix in cooler water when the tank runs hot. Test the water with your hand before you step in.

Where do solar showers work best?

Backyards and pool decks are the classic setting. A poolside shower lets swimmers rinse off chlorine and grass before they head indoors, which keeps floors cleaner. Look at patio furniture to plan the rest of the deck.

Beaches and cottages are another good fit. A shower beside the dock or the beach path washes off sand and lake water. Cottage owners can also rinse off before they walk back into the cabin. See beach accessories for more beach day gear.

Gardens and spas also gain from a spot to rinse. Gardeners can wash hands, boots and tools, and hot tub fans can rinse before a soak. Sun is the key to a warm rinse. Choose a bright, open spot with little shade, and keep the area around the base clear and level.

How do you set up and care for an outdoor shower?

An outdoor shower lasts longer with simple habits. Check the base is steady and the drain area is clear. In Canada, drain the tank and pipes before freezing weather, because trapped water can crack parts. Wipe the black surfaces clean, and store loose parts dry over winter. Follow the care steps on the product page.

Outdoor shower FAQs

Do solar showers work?

Outdoor showers that use the sun work best in direct light. Sunlight warms the water in the tank, and a mixing control lets you add cooler water. Cloudy or cool days heat the water more slowly. Plan ahead and fill the tank early in the day.

How long does a solar heated shower take to heat?

Heating time depends on sun, air temperature and tank size. A bright, warm day can heat water in a few hours, while cloudy weather takes longer. Smaller tanks heat faster than larger ones, so fill the tank in the morning.

Can you have a shower without plumbing?

Yes, an outdoor shower with its own tank does not need an indoor bathroom. You fill it with water, let the sun warm it, then rinse off. Check the product page for how each model takes in water.

How do you use a solar powered outdoor shower in winter?

Drain the tank and pipes before the first hard freeze. Water left inside can freeze and crack parts. Store loose pieces dry indoors, and cover or take down the shower until spring.

How much water does a solar shower hold?

The showers in this range hold about 5.3, 9.2 or 10.6 gallons. That is roughly 20, 35 or 40 litres. A larger tank gives more rinses before you refill it, but it needs more sun to warm up.
