Here the pieces are pulled in close, the sofas forming a tighter corner with the fire pit table right against them. That is the layout for a compact paved area. The low coffee table sits out front and the ottomans double as extra seats when someone else arrives.

Fuel, cover and care

Six steps in October

A 33.5 in by 29.5 in by 26 in box takes the cushions when the season ends and works as a side table while it lasts.

Seat pads are 4 in thick and back cushions 7 in. Every cover comes off with a zip, and rope buckles hold the ottoman pads down.

Powder coating is what keeps steel from rusting outdoors, and it works while it stays intact. A chipped edge is worth touching up early.

Will cream cushions survive a summer?

No fade or stain rating is published, so we make no promise. What is published is that every cover is detachable, zipped and washable, which is the only sensible way to own pale outdoor fabric. Barbecue smoke and sunscreen are the usual culprits, and both come out of a cover you can take off.

What propane tank does it take?

A standard 20 lb tank, and it is not included. The manufacturer specifies that size because the excess flow valve is matched to it. The tank stands upright inside the table body, held by a 9 in secure ring, and a door with a magnetic catch gets you to it for changes.

Can it stay out over a Canadian winter?

The frames cope better than the soft parts. Canadian patio guidance puts PE rattan over metal in the leave-it-out group, with a cover to keep it looking new. The cushions are the weak point: get them dry and into the storage box. The manufacturer's own storage sequence nests the four sofas together and stacks the rest on top.

How much room does it take?

Corner sofas are 29.5 in square, armless sofas 28 in by 27 in, and the fire pit table 32 in square. Laid out as an L that is roughly 10 ft by 8 ft of furniture. Layout guidance suggests 18 to 24 in between seating and a fire feature and about 3 ft of walking room behind, so plan for a good 13 ft by 12 ft.
