12 Inch Kids Bike with Removable Basket and Training Wheels, Purple

The bike

A lilac frame with a white basket on the bars, a lilac frame with a brown saddle and brown grips, mudguards over both wheels, a fully enclosed chain guard and two training wheels.

The maker's dimensions table

The 12 inch row reads: ages 3 to 4, riders 31.5 to 41.3 inches tall, a saddle of 18 to 21 inches and 110 lb at the seat. The panel also measures the bike at 33.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide and 25.5 to 28 inches high, and carries ASTM and CPSC with CPSIA marks.

Two ways to stop

A hand lever the maker sizes for small hands and a coaster brake reached by pedalling backwards, with the chain fully enclosed.

The maker's size table figure. Their photo panel marks a slightly wider range, and we publish the narrower one.

Two and a half inches at the bars, adjusted separately from the saddle.

The maker's band for the 12 inch. The saddle floor is 18 inches, which is the number to check an inseam against.

The basket lifts off, so it can go when the bear stops coming along.

The bike is 33.5 inches long and 19.5 inches wide with the training wheels on, which is a published figure rather than a guess.

What we stand behind

• The suitable age, rider height, saddle height, handlebar height, overall size and 110 lb seat capacity here are the manufacturer's own published figures for the 12 inch.
• The manufacturer prints ASTM International and CPSC with CPSIA marks on their dimensions panel. We repeat that as their claim and quote no certificate number, because none is published.
• No helmet is included. A helmet belongs on every ride, and eight Canadian provinces have helmet legislation, three of them for riders under 18.
• This is a bike for supervised riding on paths, driveways and parks, never on a road.
• The size table gives the 12 inch saddle as 18 to 21 in while the adjustable height panel on the same listing marks it 17.5 to 21.5 in. The table figures are published here because they are the more cautious pair.
• Ships from a Canadian warehouse, free shipping over $150, and 14 day returns unused in the original packaging.

What rider does the 12 inch fit?

31.5 to 41.3 inches tall. Compare the child's inseam with the 18 inch saddle floor.

What brakes are fitted?

A front hand brake with a shorter reach and a rear coaster brake.

Are the tires air filled?

Yes. The maker's cutaway shows a rubber outer, buffer layer, cord ply, inner tube and protective layer.

How much assembly is there?

The maker states 85 percent pre-assembled.
