Is this a portable unit I can wheel between rooms?

No. It is a window air conditioner that mounts in the frame and stays there for the season. That is why it is quieter and more efficient than a floor standing portable, and it is also why it cannot be moved once fitted.

What do I need to measure before ordering?

Five things: window width between 24 and 48 inches, a minimum opening of 16 inches, a sill no deeper than 11 inches, at least 12 inches of height clearance and at least 8 inches of depth clearance. A window unit cannot be adapted the way an exhaust hose can.

Does it run on an ordinary outlet?

Yes. The specification gives 115V at 60Hz with a 690 W cooling input and 6.1 A total current, which is a standard Canadian household socket. Larger window units often need a 208 to 230V circuit, so this one being 115V is worth knowing.

Why is the SACC rating 8,000 when the title says 12,000?

They are two tests of the same machine. ASHRAE is measured under fixed laboratory conditions and SACC is the seasonally adjusted method, which Danby notes is generally lower. The 400 sq ft coverage is quoted against the SACC figure.
