How much floor does it take?

3.1 ft across at the widest branches on a 16 inch stand. Mark a circle of about three and a half feet. It is a full shape, not a slim one, so it needs more floor than its height suggests.

Can I set it to stay on one colour?

There is a steady on mode, which holds the multicolour string lit without effects. The record does not describe a way to select a single colour, so do not expect one.

Will the flocking end up on the carpet?

Some will, mostly during setup and decorating. Open it out over a sheet, handle it by the inner branches, and keep water and sprays off the flocking. Store it cool, dry and out of the light.
