Check your window before you order

What does sleep mode actually change?

It lets the set temperature drift upward through the night instead of holding one number. The compressor cycles less, the room stays comfortable as your body cools, and the unit gets quieter. The 1 to 24 hour timer can also shut it off entirely at a chosen hour.

Is 8,000 BTU or 5,000 BTU the number I should trust?

5,000 BTU, the SACC figure, if you are matching the machine to a room. It is the seasonally adjusted rating that accounts for real temperature and humidity, and it is generally lower than the ASHRAE number for the same unit.

Does it need a special outlet?

No. It draws 7.0 A at 115V, 60Hz, which is an ordinary Canadian household socket on a normal 15 amp circuit. Avoid running it through a light duty extension cord.

How much water will it collect?

It depends on the humidity, not on the machine. Dry mode is rated at 40 pints a day at full tilt, but in dry indoor air you may see almost nothing. Fit the drain hose if you plan to run it through a humid stretch.
