This headboard carries a fabric pocket on each wing and a narrow shelf along the top, both within reach of the pillow. The charging ports sit in the same board, so whatever is plugged in has somewhere to sit.

A tall board and a long frame

The headboard is 57 inches across and 48 inches from the floor, which is at the tall end for a Double. The frame runs 82.5 inches long around a 75 by 54.5 inch mattress area, with 12 inches of clear floor beneath. The mattress the manufacturer asks for is 8 to 12 inches thick and the published capacity is 1100 lb.

Four ways to plug in

Two mains outlets, a USB port and a Type-C port, all recessed into the board rather than sticking out behind the pillows. The lead to the wall is 6.4 feet, which is long enough to reach past a nightstand.

Four drawers, and something holding them

Two a side, each 29 by 20 inches with 5 inches inside, on wheels. The fixing structure shown in the inset is what stops a loaded drawer rolling further under the bed than you meant it to.

Pockets on the wings

A narrow shelf runs along the top of the board and a fabric pocket hangs on each wing. Between them they take a phone, a remote and a pair of glasses at arm's length from the pillow. The wings themselves step forward, which is what stops a pillow sliding out sideways in the night.
