This is the photograph that explains the tree. Under warm white the silver goes champagne gold and the whole surface carries the light, rather than showing 230 separate points. Against a dark wall the effect is closer to a lit sculpture than a traditional tree.

The top and the base

Two details the maker calls out. A reinforced treetop, which matters because a tinsel tree's leader is thin and a topper will bend it otherwise. And an upgraded metal stand with the bolt already fitted and anti-slip pads underneath, so nothing has to be lined up with a hole at floor level.

Is the tree silver or green?

Silver. Every photograph shows silver tinsel foliage and the manufacturer's own panel calls them silver tinsel leaves. The store title does not mention the colour, which is why we have put it in ours: this is not a green tree.

How many sections is it?

The record contradicts itself. The description text says two sections, while the manufacturer's own installation panel shows three being stacked. We publish both rather than pick one. Either way the branches are hinged and expand on their own.

Is 230 lights enough?

On tinsel foliage it goes further than it would on green, because the reflective leaves spread the light rather than absorbing it. If you want the tree brighter still, add a warm white string to match: mixing colour temperatures shows badly on silver.

Will it hold a heavy topper?

The manufacturer calls out a reinforced treetop for this reason, since the leader on a tinsel tree is thinner than on a dense PVC one. Keep the topper light anyway and seat it firmly on the leader rather than hanging it to one side.
