What the weave is

A close look at the rattan itself. Two brown tones hand woven together, which the maker lists as sun protective. PE rattan does not take up water the way natural cane does, and it does not go brittle in a freeze, which is why it is the standard choice for Canadian patios.

How the fire is controlled

One knob takes the flame from low to high, over a stainless steel burner set into a ceramic top. The maker rates the output at 40,000 BTU and lists it as ETL certified. The whole table is 32 in long, 20 in deep and 16 in high.

Forty thousand BTU is enough to hold a group outside in May and September, when the furniture alone would not.

Nothing has to stand beside the group. The propane cylinder lives in the 16 in cabinet, which is also where drinks go.

Where does the propane tank go?

Into the tank cover table, a 16 in square cabinet 22 in high that comes with the set. It is sized for a 20 lb cylinder, which is not included. The top of the cabinet works as a side table, so the tank is not taking up deck space for nothing.

Can it sit beside a pool?

Nothing in the record rates the set for chlorine exposure, so we make no claim about that. What is published is a hand woven PE rattan weave, which does not absorb water the way natural cane does. Rinsing splash off with fresh water and keeping the cushions out of standing water is sensible on any set near a pool.

Can it be left out in the rain?

The manufacturer's own key features ask you to avoid prolonged rain exposure to extend service life, and we would rather tell you that than hide it. PE rattan itself does not soak up water the way natural cane does, but cushion foam holds damp for days once it is through. A cover, or bringing the cushions in, is the sensible routine.

How much space does the set need?

Corner sofas are 29 in square, armless sofas 26 in by 29 in, the fire pit table 32 in by 20 in and the coffee table 26 in square. Laid out as an open U that is roughly 9 ft by 8 ft. Layout guidance puts seating 18 to 24 in from a fire feature, so allow about 11 ft by 10 ft with walking room.
