How the pieces relate

A three quarter view that shows the height differences. The sofa backs sit at 25 in, the tank cabinet at 22 in, and the fire pit table and coffee table both come in low at 16 in and 13 in. Nothing in the group blocks a sight line across the fire.

Two jobs for one cabinet

On top, a 22 in high surface that takes a tray, glasses and bottles. Inside, standing room for a 20 lb propane cylinder with the door closed over it. The cylinder is not supplied. It is the same weave as the sofas, so it reads as furniture rather than as a fuel store.

What is under the flame

The burner is stainless steel, set into a channel in a ceramic top. A single knob lights it and takes the flame from low to high. The maker rates it at 40,000 BTU and lists it as ETL certified. The table is 32 in long and carries a 256 lb load badge.

The 32 in table stands 16 in high, the same as a coffee table. The flame sits where a tray would, right in the middle of the group.

Two tones woven together rather than one flat colour, so scuffs and dust do not stand out the way they do on a solid weave.

A separate 26 in square glass topped table comes with the set, so the fire pit is not the only surface in the group.

Will the red fade?

No fade rating is published for this fabric, so we will not claim one. Strong dyes generally show sun before pale ones do. The covers are removable and washable, so the practical answer is to store them out of the sun when the set is not in use rather than leaving them out from May to September.

Where does the propane tank go?

Into the tank cover table, a 16 in square cabinet 22 in high that comes with the set. It is sized for a 20 lb cylinder, which is not included. The top of the cabinet works as a side table, so the tank is not taking up deck space for nothing.

Can it be left out in the rain?

The manufacturer's own key features ask you to avoid prolonged rain exposure to extend service life, and we would rather tell you that than hide it. PE rattan itself does not soak up water the way natural cane does, but cushion foam holds damp for days once it is through. A cover, or bringing the cushions in, is the sensible routine.

How tall is the fire pit table?

Sixteen inches, which is coffee table height rather than dining height. That puts the flame level with the seat of the sofas around it, and it is why the manufacturer describes the table as usable as an extra coffee table year round.
