Can it stay outside all December?

Do I need the app to use it?

No. Ten preset effects are on the switch. The Smart Life app adds custom modes if you want them, but the tree works without a phone.

Is there any foliage on it?

None. It is a spiral of lit coils around a metal pole with a star on top. That is the whole design, and it is why it takes so little ground.

How is it held down?

Four ground stakes are supplied for soft ground. On a hard surface it stands on its metal base, so put it somewhere sheltered from wind.
