Standard six foot trees spread three to four feet across the base. In a small living room that is the walkway, the radiator or the end of the sofa, so people settle for a shorter tree than the room could take.

This one holds six feet of height inside a 1.5 ft spread on a 16 inch stand. Against a wall or in an alcove it gives the height of a proper tree while leaving the floor where it was.

445 tips and 180 bulbs

The tip shape is rounded and closed rather than flat cut. 445 of them fill a 1.5 ft wide frame, and the 180 warm white bulbs run the full height so the top of the tree is lit as well as the middle.

The stand, and why it folds

The metal stand folds flat and the bolt is already fitted, so the trunk goes straight in. On a six foot tree only eighteen inches wide, the stand is the whole stability story, which is why it is metal rather than moulded plastic.

Will it look thin at six feet?

It is a pencil tree, so it is meant to read tall and narrow. 445 tips on a 1.5 ft frame keeps it dense rather than sparse, but it will never look like a full profile tree and is not trying to.

How many ornaments will it take?

Plenty of small ones. Use a larger number of lighter pieces rather than a few heavy baubles, because the branches are short and close to the trunk.

What ceiling height does it need?

Seven feet or more is comfortable. Guides advise about twelve inches of clear air above the tip before a topper.

Is the stand strong enough?

It is metal with fixing screws and a pre-installed bolt. On a tall narrow tree the stand is the whole stability story, which is why this one is not moulded plastic.
