Description

10 FT Cantilever Patio Umbrella with Solar LED Lights 360° Rotation-Beige

Ten feet of beige canopy hung from a side arm, so the ground under it stays completely free. Six tilt levels and a foot pedal that swings the whole canopy around mean the shade moves with the afternoon. A two tier vented top lets gusts out, solar LEDs line the ribs, and the 40 inch cross base is in the box.

Sectionals and centre poles do not mix

There is nowhere to put the pole

An outdoor sofa or a sectional has no hole in it, and a floor stand in the middle of the seating is worse than no shade at all. So the sofa group ends up being the sunniest corner of the yard.

Hang the canopy in from the side

The post stands behind the furniture and the triangle braced arm carries the 10 foot canopy out over it. The whole footprint under the shade is free. When the sun swings, the foot pedal at the base lets you turn the canopy instead of rebuilding the seating.

Post on one side, canopy on the other

The plainest view of how this thing works. The post goes up on the left, the arm crosses the top with a diagonal brace behind it, and the canopy hangs from the far end. The black cross frame at the foot is the 40 inch base that ships in the carton, ready for weights to sit on.

Over a whole sectional

Here the canopy covers an entire corner sofa with the post standing clear behind it. Ten feet of cover is enough for a group that size. Note the caption in the manufacturer's own photograph: the weighted base under the cross frame is not included, so budget for one.

Foot on the pedal, hand on the post

Two steps, shown here as two insets. Press the pedal at the base with your foot, then hold the post and turn. The canopy tracks around to wherever the sun has moved and the base stays planted. It is a one person job, which a loaded umbrella base would not be.

Why the top has two layers

Seen from above, the crown is a small second canopy sitting over a gap in the main one. Air that pushes up inside escapes through that gap rather than lifting the whole cover. The inset shows water beading on the polyester, which the manufacturer describes as water repellent.

What you get

Six tilt levels

The arm steps through six positions, so you can drop the canopy low against late sun or raise it for headroom.

Foot pedal rotation

Step on the pedal at the base, hold the post and turn. The canopy goes right around without the base shifting.

Solar lighting with a centre light

LED beads follow the ribs and a brighter light sits at the hub. About 6 to 8 hours after a full day's charge.

Two tier vented canopy

The top is built in two layers with a gap between them, so air climbs out of the canopy rather than pushing it.

Triangle braced arm

A diagonal brace ties the arm back to the post. It is the joint that stops a long overhang nodding in the wind.

Cross base in the box

A 40 inch square cross frame ships with it. The weighted base that sits on top of it is bought separately.

One click switch

The lights are on a single switch rather than a sensor, so they come on when you sit down, not at dusk.

Measured off the drawing

Canopy 10 ft across, 8.4 ft to the crown, 6.4 ft under the rim, cross base 40 in square.

Who is this perfect for?

Corner sofa sets

A sectional has no hole to take a pole. The arm reaches over the whole group and the post parks behind it.

West facing yards

Six tilt levels and a full circle of rotation are what you want when the worst sun of the day arrives at six.

Late dinners outdoors

Solar beads on the ribs and a centre light at the hub give you 6 to 8 hours after a good day of charging.

Frequently asked questions

How much will a 10 foot canopy cover, and how high does it sit?

Ten feet across is the size furniture guides pair with a round table of roughly 60 inches and about six seats, or a full corner sofa. The clearance matters as much: the rim sits 6.4 feet off the ground and the crown 8.4 feet, so you walk under the middle easily and meet the edge at head height. Set the post on the side people are not walking past.

Is a weighted base included?

No. The 40 inch cross frame is in the box, and this product's dimension drawing recommends adding a 90 lb weighted base, sold separately. Because a cantilever carries its canopy off to one side, the base is doing more work than it would on a centre-pole umbrella of the same width, so do not go under the recommendation.

How long do the lights last on a charge?

The manufacturer rates the solar lighting at about 6 to 8 hours after a full day of charging. They also suggest leaving the lights switched off while the panel is charging if you want the longest evening out of it.

How should it be stored over winter?

Crank it closed, let the canopy dry right through, wipe the post down and keep it somewhere dry. Canadian care guides agree on the two things that finish a patio umbrella: snow sitting on an open canopy, and fabric folded away while it is still damp.
