What it looks like lit at night

Warm white light on green needles is the traditional combination, and it photographs the way it looks in person: yellow rather than blue, soft rather than sharp. Health Canada advises switching tree lights off overnight.

Three steps, and the third takes the time

Unfold the stand, fit the three sections in order, then fluff the leaves by hand. The hinges do the coarse work of swinging branches away from the pole. Spreading the individual tips is still a manual job, and on a seven foot tree it is an evening.

How many branch tips and bulbs does it have?

We do not print a figure. The written description gives 1188 tips and 700 lights for the 7 ft size, while this listing's own graphics show the 6 ft figures of 821 and 560. Since the two disagree we have left the number out rather than guess.

Does it still need fluffing?

Yes. Step three of the manufacturer's own instructions is to spread the tips by hand. The hinges only swing the branches away from the pole.

How much floor space does it need?

4 ft across at the widest branches on an 18 inch stand, so allow a floor circle of about four and a half feet.

What happens if a bulb fails?

On many pre-lit trees a single damaged bulb can take out a whole strand. Test the strands before you decorate, while the branches are still easy to reach.
