Most pre-lit trees run their bulbs as one long circuit. A failure anywhere takes out everything after it, and because the string is wired into the branches there is nothing to unplug and swap. A dark band across the middle of an eight foot tree normally means the tree goes in a skip.

2956 tips, two materials

1434 moulded PE tips carry the outer branches where they are seen, and 1522 flat cut PVC tips fill the interior. That mix is why the tree still reads as a tree unlit in daylight, which is how most of December actually looks. Both materials are described by the maker as odourless, non-toxic and flame-retardant.

670 LEDs, colour from a phone

Scan the QR code on the adaptor and the app sets colour, brightness and glittering speed, or you pick one of fifteen presets. The lights are colour changing rather than fixed, so the same tree does deep blue at night and warm white in the morning without anything being rewired.

Built for a big space

The manufacturer photographs this size in a shopping centre, which is a fair signal of where it belongs. Five feet across is what separates this from a tall tree that still looks narrow. In a room with nine or ten feet of headroom and a clear corner it is properly imposing; anywhere smaller it dominates for the wrong reasons.

A single dead string is what ends most pre-lit trees, and at this price that is an expensive way to learn. Eight independently wired layers is the direct answer, and the most practical reason to spend more here.

What ceiling height do I need?

Eight feet of tree plus the stand and a topper, so nine feet is the sensible minimum and ten is comfortable. If your ceiling is eight feet, the 7 ft version in this range is the one to buy.

What does the app actually control?

Light colour, brightness and the speed of any glittering or moving effect, plus fifteen presets you can select directly. The manufacturer does not name the app or state which phones it supports, so ask us before ordering if that matters and we will check with the supplier.

What does eight layers mean in practice?

The bulbs are divided into eight circuits stacked up the tree, each wired on its own. If one fails, the other seven stay lit. On a single circuit tree, one failure usually takes out everything after it.

Why two kinds of branch tip?

Moulded PE tips look like real needles and are used on the outer branches where they are seen. Flat cut PVC is bulkier and cheaper and fills the interior. The mix is how a tree looks realistic without costing what an all PE tree costs.

Can one person put it up?

Two is easier. At 34.5 lb the weight is manageable but the upper sections of an eight foot tree are awkward to lift into place alone. The sections separate for carrying.

Can I replace a bulb?

No spare bulb or fuse specification is published, so we cannot promise individual bulb replacement. The eight layer wiring is the manufacturer's answer to bulb failure: it contains a fault rather than letting it spread.

How does it compare with the 7 ft?

A foot of height, about seven inches more width, 632 more branch tips, 130 more LEDs and 7 lb more weight. The lighting system is identical across all three sizes.
