How much flocking will come off?

Some, and more than on a lightly flocked tree simply because there is more of it. Unpack over a sheet, shake it gently before it goes into position, and keep a vacuum handy for the first day.

Can I add my own lights?

Yes, on top of the 250 already fitted. Keep the total load on one outlet sensible, which is what Health Canada warns about, and switch everything off before bed.

How do I store a heavily flocked tree?

Cool, dry and dark, wrapped loosely rather than compressed. Damp and pressure are what damage flocking, and sunlight yellows white over the years.
