How much room it actually takes

In a real room the 2.4 ft spread reads as modest. There is space to walk past it and space for gifts underneath without the branches sitting on them. Five feet puts the star at about eye level for most adults.

How does a fibre optic tree differ from a pre-lit one?

A pre-lit tree has bulbs wired along the branches, so you see the string. A fibre optic tree has one light source in the base feeding clear strands out to the branch ends, so the tips glow and there is no visible wiring. This one has both: fibre strands and 21 LEDs.

How many pieces is it, and does it need tools?

Three pieces, no tools. Two tree sections and a metal stand. The branches are already attached and the lighting is already wired, so there is nothing to connect between sections.

Can I hang my own ornaments?

A few light ones near the trunk. Anything covering a branch end blocks a fibre tip, and the tree is designed to be the display on its own.

What ceiling height does five feet need?

Almost any room. Guides advise keeping about a foot of clear air above the tree, and five feet plus a stand leaves well over that under a standard eight foot ceiling.
