What does the ENERGY STAR mark mean on a dehumidifier?

It is an efficiency programme. A certified dehumidifier has to remove a set amount of water per kilowatt hour, which is why it appears on relatively few machines. How do I set continuous mode?

Hold the minus button until CO appears on the display. In that mode the machine ignores the humidity target and runs constantly. Use the plus and minus keys normally to go back to a set level between 30% and 80%.

Can I use a garden hose instead of the one supplied?

Yes. The manufacturer states the drain outlet takes a standard 27 mm garden hose as well as the 23.5 inch hose in the box. Either way it drains by gravity, so the far end must sit lower than the machine.
