Down to a drain, or up and out

The 9.8 ft hose in the box drains by gravity, which is the simple answer when there is a sump or a floor drain lower than the machine. Crawl spaces often have neither. The unit also has a signal interface for an external condensate pump, which pushes water up and away to a laundry tub or outside. Read the photo carefully: the pump itself is not included, so budget for one if there is nothing below the machine to drain into.

The parts you will actually touch

Why does it say 124 pints and 42 pints?

They are the same machine measured at different conditions. 124 pints a day is at 95F and 90% relative humidity. 42 pints is the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%, which the US Department of Energy adopted because it reflects a basement or crawl space rather than tropical air. The manufacturer also publishes 110 pints at 86F and 80%, and 60 pints at 80F and 60%. Compare the DOE figure when you shop.

Is a pump included for draining upward?

No. The unit has the interface for an external condensate pump, and the pump is sold separately. The 9.8 ft hose that comes in the box drains by gravity, so it only works if there is a drain, sump or sloped run lower than the machine. If your crawl space has nothing below the unit, plan on buying a pump.

Can I hang it from the floor joists?
