Storage beds are usually bought to go under a mattress somebody already owns, and nobody checks the mattress spec until the bed is built.

The manufacturer publishes a recommended mattress of 8 inches here, not a range. A deeper mattress will still lie on the deck, but it adds weight against a 110 lb lifting system and raises the sleeping surface above the 13.5 inch rail more than the bed was drawn for.

Eighty four by sixty three

The footprint for a 60 by 80 inch Queen, with the deck at 82 by 60 inside it. The side rail sits 13.5 inches off the floor, and that rail height is what encloses the storage compartment rather than leaving a gap under the bed.

Corduroy, not linen

Wide ribs of corduroy over high density sponge, which gives the headboard a texture that catches light down every channel. It is a warmer fabric to lean against than a flat weave and it hides marks better in a room that gets used. The same ribbing runs along the base rails, so the whole frame reads as one piece.

Metal underneath the fabric

The legs are heavy duty metal rather than wood, and twelve laminated veneer lumber slats snap into the frame without tools. That combination is what carries both the mattress and the strut loads every time the deck goes up.

Nine and a half inches, full width

Lifted, the compartment is 9.5 inches deep across the whole 82 by 60 inch deck. A hard suitcase, woven baskets and folded winter bedding all go in standing on the floor of it rather than being squeezed into a drawer. Closed again, none of it is visible from the room.
