Loft beds are usually bought with a mattress the family already owns, and a 10 or 12 inch Twin turns a 12 inch guardrail into a 2 inch lip.

This one publishes the limit plainly at 6 inches. Buy to that number and the rail keeps its full height above the sleeper, which is the entire point of a guardrail.

Six inches of mattress, and why

Inside the rails the deck measures 76 by 39 inches, which takes a standard Twin of 38 by 75. The guardrail stands 12 inches above that deck. The manufacturer caps the mattress at 6 inches thick so the rail still sits well above a sleeping child rather than level with them, and most bunk and loft guidance sets the same kind of limit.

Twenty colours on a remote

The LED strip runs along the bed and shelf edges and changes through 20 colours and 22 moving modes, with speed and brightness set from the included remote. It is the part children pick the bed for, and it doubles as a soft night light once the brightness is turned down.

Shelves you can move

Two bookcases sit under and beside the deck, each 30 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep with 8 inch openings. They are not fixed in place, so they can be taken off and set down elsewhere in the room as a child grows out of the cabin arrangement.

Twenty one inches underneath

That is floor a small child can sit under, and it is the reason a low loft earns its place in a room that has no space for a desk. It is also enough for flat under-bed boxes once the play stage passes. Assembly is a bolt together frame with the slats laid in.
