The capacity, stated both ways
10,000 BTU on the ASHRAE scale, 6,500 BTU on the seasonally adjusted SACC scale, and 350 sq ft of coverage tied to the smaller number. Air flow is 155 CFM. Reading both figures together is the honest way to size one of these.
Spreading the air instead of aiming it
The louvre sweeps through 120 degrees on its own, or you can set it by hand and leave it. Sweeping suits a room with people in different spots. Fixed suits a desk you do not want a draught on.
Quiet enough to sleep beside
The manufacturer puts it at 50 dB, which the scale in this photo places nearer a quiet library than a conversation. The 1 to 24 hour timer switches it off automatically, so it does not run cold through the small hours.

Frequently asked questions
What does automatic mode do?
It reads the room temperature and switches between cooling and fan without you choosing. On a day that starts cool and ends hot it saves walking over to the panel twice, and it stops the compressor running when plain air movement is enough.
Why is the SACC number lower than the BTU number on the front?
Because they are different tests. ASHRAE is measured under fixed laboratory conditions, while SACC is the seasonally adjusted method that accounts for real temperature and humidity across a cooling season. Danby notes SACC comes out lower for the same machine. Use 6,500 BTU when you are matching this to a room.
How do I lock the controls?
Press and hold the sleep mode key. The child lock is combined with that button rather than given one of its own, which is easy to miss in the manual.
Will the kit fit my window?
It covers openings from 25 to 47 inches on sliding windows, vertical or horizontal. Crank out casement windows need a custom panel cut to the opening, as generic sliding kits do not seal against that shape.
