Description

3-in-1 9000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier and 24H Timer

9,000 BTU sits between the common 8,000 and 10,000 sizes, which suits the awkward room that is a little too big for the smaller unit. Rated 6,000 BTU SACC over 280 sq ft, with 163 CFM of air flow and a 50 pint a day dry mode.

Most ranges jump from 8,000 to 10,000 BTU. A 9,000 BTU unit fills the gap for a room that is a bit over 250 sq ft but nowhere near 350.

The size between the usual sizes

280 sq ft is the rated coverage, tied to the 6,000 BTU SACC figure. That is a living room, a large bedroom or a kitchen diner. It is more headroom than an 8,000 BTU unit without paying for capacity a small flat will never use.

27 inches tall and everything included

The cabinet is 27 inches tall on a 13 by 12 inch base. The carton holds the window kit and adapter, a 4.9 ft exhaust hose with a 5.9 inch mouth, a hose connector, a 2 ft drainage hose and the remote. Nothing else is needed to run it.

Choosing how the water leaves

One outlet sits underneath for occasional draining and one on the back takes the 2 ft hose for continuous drainage. At 50 pints a day in dry mode, the back port is the one you want connected before a humid week.

What you get

9,000 BTU ASHRAE, 6,000 BTU SACC

Rated to 280 sq ft against the seasonally adjusted figure, filling the gap between 8,000 and 10,000.

50 pints a day dry mode

Runs the compressor for moisture instead of chasing a temperature.

Two drainage outlets

One underneath for occasional emptying, one on the back for a hose left in place.

Auto defrost and overflow protection

The coil clears itself of ice, and the unit stops before water can reach the floor.

50 to 53 dB

Quiet enough for a bedroom, with a 1 to 24 hour timer to shut it off in the night.

115V at 8.8 A

874 W on a standard Canadian 115V, 60Hz socket, with a 5.6 ft cord.

Frequently asked questions

Is 9,000 BTU really different from 8,000?

On the SACC scale this one is rated 6,000 BTU against 5,000 for most 8,000 BTU units in the same range, and the coverage goes from 250 to 280 sq ft. That is a real but modest step, and it matters most in a room with a lot of afternoon sun.

What are the two drainage outlets for?

One under the cabinet for occasional manual draining and one on the back for the supplied 2 ft hose, which drains continuously by gravity. Which you use depends on whether there is somewhere for the water to go.

How humid does it have to be before I need to drain it?

There is no fixed answer, because it tracks the room. In dry indoor air a portable unit can run for days with almost nothing to empty. In sticky weather a machine this size can pull several pints an hour, which is when the continuous hose is worth having connected.

What windows does it suit?

Sliding windows with an opening between 25.5 and 47 inches. Crank out casement windows need a custom panel, as the sliding kit supplied cannot seal against that type of frame.
