What ceiling height do I need?

Sizing guides suggest leaving about a foot between the tip and the ceiling for a topper, which points to a ten foot ceiling for an eight foot tree. Under a nine foot ceiling it will stand, but use a flat topper. Under eight feet it will not fit at all.
