Getting up at night in a small bedroom usually means squeezing past the foot of the bed. A leg at the corner is exactly where a bare foot lands, and it is always the same corner.

This frame carries its supports set in from the edges and hidden behind the rail, which is where the floating look comes from. There is nothing at the corners to catch, and the 8 inches of clearance underneath runs clear from one side to the other.

Shorter than you expect

78.5 inches long and 55.5 inches across the headboard, for a 54 by 75 inch Double. The deck sits 9.5 inches up and the manufacturer publishes 8 inches of clear space between the bed and the floor. Published capacity is 660 lb.

Eight inches, all the way round

Because the legs are set in from the edges, the 8 inches of clearance is unobstructed across the whole footprint. A robot vacuum crosses from one side to the other without meeting a leg, which is not true of a frame with corner posts.

The shelf and the sockets

A shelf runs along the top of the headboard with the power built in below it. The manufacturer's panel for this size lists two USB ports at 5V 2A and two AC outlets, on a 150 cm cord. The socket rating printed on this size's panel differs from the Queen version's, so we quote it exactly as printed.

Three heights, set at assembly

The headboard mounts in three positions so the board still shows above the mattress you own. Behind the fabric is soft sponge, and the diamond tufting is stitched through it rather than printed on.
