AKOYA is the shortest board in Taiga's Root Collection, built small and light so it turns easily and still tracks well across open water. The wood veneer top and bottom are left in a natural matte finish rather than painted, so every board shows real wood grain instead of a solid colour. It's part of a shape family Taiga also sells as HANA, in a painted finish rather than wood, so the two boards share the same length, width, volume and capacity underneath. Choosing between them comes down to how you want the deck to look, not how the board performs on the water.

Real wood grain, not a graphic

Both the deck and hull are wrapped in natural Paulownia wood veneer with a matte finish, so the grain pattern on your board is unique to that board, not a printed pattern. The tan deck pad and mountain logo sit over the standing area, with bungee cords near the nose for strapping down a small dry bag.

Built for smaller paddlers and tighter turns

At 9'5" and 32" wide, AKOYA is one of the shorter boards in Taiga's lineup. That shorter length makes it easier to spin and manoeuvre, at some cost to straight-line cruising speed versus a longer board.
