A useful quirk is worth knowing before it puzzles you: on this model sleep mode is a remote only setting. It is not missing from the panel by accident.
Four modes, one of them hidden
Cool, dry and fan are on the panel. Sleep is on the remote only, which the manufacturer states plainly. It is worth keeping the handset somewhere you can find it if you plan to run the unit overnight.
Aiming a big outlet
The outlet grille across the front is wide for a unit this size, and the vanes turn side to side as well as tipping up and down. Aim it high and the cool air falls through the room instead of hitting one person in the shins.
A small footprint and a long hose

Why can I not find sleep mode on the panel?
Because it is a remote only setting on this model, which the manufacturer states in the product information. Everything else, including cool, dry, fan, the timer and the child lock, is on the touch panel.
What size window does it need?
The kit covers openings from 25.5 to 49.5 inches on sliding windows. Crank out casement windows need a custom panel, because the sliding kit cannot seal against that frame.
Does it collect water I have to empty?
Sometimes, and it depends on the humidity. A 25.5 inch exhaust water pipe is supplied so condensate can drain away continuously instead. In dry indoor air you may see very little at all.
Is the grey version any different from the black one?
The specification is the same: 8,000 BTU, 230 sq ft, 290 cubic metres an hour, R410A refrigerant and 45 lb. Only the cabinet finish changes.
