Fir trees spread out at the bottom, exactly where the floor, the skirting and the furniture are. That is why a six foot tree can need a four foot circle of floor you do not have.

A palm inverts it. The trunk is a pole taking an eleven inch plate, and the 3.2 ft canopy sits at head height where nothing else is. It can stand beside a sofa or in a doorway alcove without anything being moved.

Four colours, wires hidden

The lights run red, green, yellow and blue, and the wiring is routed inside the fronds and the trunk rather than draped over them. On a tree with this little foliage that matters: there is nowhere for a loose cable to hide.

The three details are the whole tree: PVC fronds, 64 branch tips at the crown, and a trunk moulded with bark texture rather than left as a plain pole. There is no foliage below the canopy, which is what makes the shape work.

Can I hang ornaments on it?

A few light ones on the fronds, which is what the manufacturer's photography shows. There is no foliage below the canopy, so most of the tree has nowhere to hang anything.

Is the trunk lit as well as the fronds?

Yes. The 210 LEDs are distributed on the branches and the trunk, which is what gives the tree its shape after dark.

How long is the cord?

4.9 ft, which is short. Measure from where the base will stand to your nearest outlet and plan on a properly rated extension if it falls short.

Will it tip over?

It stands on an 11 inch metal plate, which the manufacturer says resists wobbling. Keep it out of a walkway, since the weight is concentrated at the top of the trunk.
