What is the difference between this and a corner piece?

A corner turns the seating 90 degrees. The armless middle here keeps it straight. This set has two armed ends and one armless middle, so it makes lines and groups rather than an L.

Do the pieces come assembled?

Will it slide on a smooth deck?
