32 Pint Compressor Dehumidifier for 2000 Sq Ft, 38 dB, Inside Drying, 0.54 Gallon Tank, White
Description
32 Pint Compressor Dehumidifier for 2000 Sq Ft, 38 dB, Inside Drying, 0.54 Gallon Tank, White
Two features here are usually found on more expensive machines: an inside drying cycle that runs the fan on after you switch off to dry the coil, and a memory function that remembers your settings through a power cut. It removes 15 L (32 pints) a day at 35C and 90% RH, covers up to 186 square metres, and runs at 38 dB.
The smell that comes back from the machine itself
What usually goes wrong
A dehumidifier coil stays wet after the compressor stops. Switch the machine off for a week in autumn and the damp inside it does what damp does anywhere else, so the first run next spring smells stale.
How this one answers it
The inside drying function runs the fan on its own after the compressor stops, drying the coil out before the machine goes quiet. It is on the panel as its own key, so it takes one press before you put the unit away.
Compact at 10.5 by 8.5 by 17 inches and 22 lbs, with a top handle and four casters.

Eight functions on one strip
Left to right: timer, inside drying, fan speed, humidity target, mode, power. Underneath sit the things that run without you, which are overload protection, auto defrost, the water full indicator and the memory function that restores your settings after a power cut. Child lock freezes the panel. The number in the middle is the humidity in the room, not the target.
Two ways to empty it, and one you will actually use
The 0.54 gallon tank slides out with a visible level down the front, which is fine in a bedroom where the machine idles most of the day. In a bathroom or a basement it fills far faster than you will want to carry it, so fit the 2 ft hose in the box and let it drain into a floor drain or a sump. The tank has auto shutoff either way.

Reading the metric version of the specification
This graphic quotes the machine in metric, which is worth translating. 15 L per day is the same figure as 32 pints. 35C and 90% RH is the same as 95F and 90%. And 186 square metres is 2,000 sq ft, the manufacturer's maximum coverage area.
What you get
Inside drying function
Runs the fan after the compressor stops so the coil dries out. Worth using before the machine goes into storage for the winter.
Memory function
Brings back your mode and target after a power interruption instead of waiting to be set up again.
Two modes
Auto holds a target between 30% and 80%, and continuous runs without waiting for one, which is the setting for a damp week.
Tank or hose
A 0.54 gallon (2 L) tank with a visible level and a water full indicator, or the supplied 2 ft hose for continuous drainage.
Auto defrost and overload protection
Defrost clears the coil in a cool room and overload protection looks after the compressor if the supply sags.
Child lock
Freezes the panel so a passing toddler cannot change the setting or switch it off.
Quiet and low draw
38 dB and 130W. Quiet enough for a bedroom and cheap enough to leave running.

How it compares
Three ways to deal with a room that keeps reading above 60%, compared on effort and result.

|---|---|---|---|
| Works on a humid summer day | Yes | No, outdoor air is often wetter | No, it pulls that air in |
| Works in winter | Yes | Yes, but you lose the heat | Yes, at a heat cost |
| Holds a set humidity | Yes, 30% to 80% | No | No |
| Noise | 38 dB | Silent | Varies, often louder |
| Running cost | 130W while running | Heating loss | Fan plus heating loss |

Frequently asked questions
Is 15 L a day the same as 32 pints?
Yes. The manufacturer quotes this model in both units: 15 L per day and 32 pints per day, measured at 35C and 90% relative humidity, which is the same as 95F and 90%. That is a hot, saturated test. In a 20C Canadian basement the real figure will be considerably lower, which is exactly why the US Department of Energy moved its own test to 65F and 60% in 2019. No DOE figure is published for this model.
What is inside drying for?
It runs the fan after the compressor stops so the coil dries out rather than sitting wet. Use it before you put the machine away for the season, and after a long run in a very damp room. It is a separate key on the panel.
Which drainage should I use?
Use the 0.54 gallon tank in a room where the machine idles most of the time, such as a bedroom. Use the 2 ft hose anywhere the machine will run hard, because the tank will otherwise fill faster than you will want to empty it. The hose drains by gravity, so the outlet has to be lower than the machine.
Does it need a special outlet?
No. It is 115V, 60Hz, drawing 1.6A and 130W, on a 6.5 ft cord. That is a light load on an ordinary grounded Canadian household outlet, well within what a normal circuit handles.
