A dehumidifier coil stays wet after the compressor stops. Switch the machine off for a week in autumn and the damp inside it does what damp does anywhere else, so the first run next spring smells stale.

In a bathroom or a basement it fills far faster than you will want to carry it, so fit the 2 ft hose in the box and let it drain into a floor drain or a sump. The tank has auto shutoff either way.
Reading the metric version of the specification
This graphic quotes the machine in metric, which is worth translating. 15 L per day is the same figure as 32 pints. 35C and 90% RH is the same as 95F and 90%. And 186 square metres is 2,000 sq ft, the manufacturer's maximum coverage area.

Is 15 L a day the same as 32 pints?
Yes. The manufacturer quotes this model in both units: 15 L per day and 32 pints per day, measured at 35C and 90% relative humidity, which is the same as 95F and 90%. That is a hot, saturated test. In a 20C Canadian basement the real figure will be considerably lower, which is exactly why the US Department of Energy moved its own test to 65F and 60% in 2019. No DOE figure is published for this model.
What is inside drying for?
It runs the fan after the compressor stops so the coil dries out rather than sitting wet. Use it before you put the machine away for the season, and after a long run in a very damp room. It is a separate key on the panel.
Which drainage should I use?
Use the 0.54 gallon tank in a room where the machine idles most of the time, such as a bedroom. Use the 2 ft hose anywhere the machine will run hard, because the tank will otherwise fill faster than you will want to empty it. The hose drains by gravity, so the outlet has to be lower than the machine.
Does it need a special outlet?
No. It is 115V, 60Hz, drawing 1.6A and 130W, on a 6.5 ft cord. That is a light load on an ordinary grounded Canadian household outlet, well within what a normal circuit handles.
