Description

190 PPD Commercial Dehumidifier, 50 Pints DOE, 412 CFM, Built-in Pump, MERV 8 Filter, Yellow

412 CFM is the standout figure here, and it is why the manufacturer rates this machine to 9,000 sq ft. It removes 190 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 90 pints at the old 80F and 60% condition, and 50 pints on the 2019 DOE test. The pump lifts water 16 ft through a 26.2 ft hose that snaps on with a quick connector.

Drying a building is a job for air, not just a compressor

What usually goes wrong

A machine with a big pint rating and a small fan makes a dry bubble around itself. The meter beside it reads well, the far end of the warehouse does not move, and the job takes twice as long as it should.

How this one answers it

412 CFM is roughly double what a large household unit moves, and it is what carries damp air from the far corners of a 9,000 sq ft space back over the coil. The 26.2 ft hose lets you put the machine where the airflow works rather than where the drain is.

Yellow LLDPE over a steel chassis, 24 by 14 by 20 inches and 80.5 lbs, with a collapsible tow handle, two large wheels and two straps that hold the 26 ft cord and the hose against the body. It draws 590W and 5.3A, which is modest for the capacity, and it sets humidity anywhere from 10% to 90%.

Why the fan figure is the one to read

Those arrows are the point. A dehumidifier can only take water out of air that reaches its coil, so in a big open space the fan decides the result. 412 CFM is a genuinely large figure, and it is what the 9,000 sq ft coverage rating rests on. In a single room it is more air than you need, which is worth knowing before you buy this over something smaller.

A hose that clips on and a pump that lifts

The connector in the inset is a quick release, so the hose goes on and comes off without tools when the machine moves between jobs. The two figures that matter are 26.2 ft of hose and 16 ft of vertical lift. Between them they cover a basement floor up to a ground floor sink, or a long run out to a yard, without the machine having to sit beside a drain.

The display shows the air going in and coming out

Two readings, not one: the temperature and humidity of the air entering the machine, and of the air leaving it. That tells you immediately whether it is doing anything, which a single room reading does not. Around it sit a 0 to 24 hour timer, memory restart after a power cut, auto turn on and off against your target, and an auto defrost cycle.

A filter rating, which is unusual at this price

The filter is a washable MERV 8, a rating that actually means something rather than just the word washable. It rinses and goes back in. The two straps on the body hold the 26 ft cord and the hose so nothing trails when you tow it, and the two non slip handles moulded into the lid take over for stairs and truck beds.

What you get

412 CFM of airflow

One of the highest figures in this class. It is what makes the 9,000 sq ft coverage rating credible in an open space.

Four published capacity ratings

190 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 150 at 86F and 60%, 90 at 80F and 60%, and 50 on the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%.

Pump with a quick connector

Lifts water 16 ft through a 26.2 ft hose. The quick connector means the hose comes off without tools when the machine moves.

Washable MERV 8 filter

A published filtration rating rather than a plain mesh. Removable and washable, so there is nothing consumable to reorder.

Humidity from 10% to 90%

The 10% floor is for drying structure and paint. A household unit usually stops at 30%.

Inlet and outlet readings

The digital display shows temperature and humidity entering and leaving the machine, so you can see it working.

Memory restart and auto defrost

It resumes on its own settings after a power interruption, and the defrost cycle keeps the coil clear in a cool space.

Rotationally moulded LLDPE body

One piece moulded plastic with a collapsible tow handle, two large wheels and cord and hose straps. Built for repeated loading and unloading.

Who is this perfect for?

Warehouses and large open floors

412 CFM and a 9,000 sq ft rating. This is the machine for a space where a smaller unit only ever dries its own corner.

Restoration and construction crews

Moulded shell, tow handle, quick connector on the hose and straps for the cord. It is built to be loaded and unloaded every day.

Crawl spaces with a long hose run

26.2 ft of hose and 16 ft of lift give you options for where the water goes when the space itself has no drain.

Spaces above about 5C

It is a compressor machine with an auto defrost cycle. Somewhere that regularly freezes needs a desiccant unit instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is 412 CFM more airflow than I need?

In one room, yes. Airflow matters when the space is large or broken up, because a dehumidifier can only dry the air that reaches it. At 412 CFM and a rated 9,000 sq ft this is a machine for a warehouse, a long crawl space or a whole floor. For a basement rec room, a smaller unit will hold the same humidity for less money and less noise.

What does MERV 8 mean on the filter?

MERV is the standard scale for how much a filter captures. MERV 8 is a genuine rating rather than the word washable on its own, and it is what most commercial air handlers use as a first stage. This one is removable and washable, so there is nothing to buy. Rinse it when it looks grey and let it dry before it goes back in.

Why is the DOE figure 50 pints when the name says 190?

The same compressor, measured in different air. 190 pints a day is at 95F and 90% relative humidity. The 2019 DOE test is at 65F and 60%, which the US Department of Energy chose because it reflects a basement, and this machine returns 50 pints under it. The manufacturer also publishes 150 pints at 86F and 60% and 90 at 80F and 60%. Compare DOE to DOE.

What does it need to plug into?

115V, 60Hz on a 26 ft cord, drawing 590W and 5.3A. That is a standard grounded Canadian outlet, and the current draw is modest for a machine this size. Plug it into the wall rather than a light duty extension cord and keep other heavy loads off the circuit.
