What the canvas is

The manufacturer's own fabric panel: 180 GSM polyester with a PA coating, listed as sun protective, fade resistant, water repellent and tear resistant. Those are their four claims, quoted as they state them. No UV protection factor is published anywhere in the record.

Open, shut and strapped

The crank turns one way to open and the other to close, and a loop strap holds the folded canopy against the pole afterwards. The panel carries the maker's own note to close the umbrella in severe weather, which is worth taking seriously on 14.8 ft of canvas.

Cool white beads run along the ribs, charged by a panel on the umbrella and switched on by hand. The maker quotes 6 to 8 hours from a full charge.

Can it stay outside over winter?

The rattan weave and the metal frame are the least fussy parts. Canadian patio guidance puts synthetic wicker in the leave-it-out group, though a cover keeps it looking newer. The umbrella is the piece to deal with: the manufacturer's own note says to close it in severe weather, and snow load on an open canopy bends ribs. Cushions come in dry.

Does the acacia tabletop need treating?

It is not compulsory. Left alone, acacia goes silver grey over seasons without losing strength. The manufacturer's own panel says the top can be coated with a wood specific wax oil to extend service life, and acacia care guides suggest re-oiling a few times a season if you want to hold the original colour.
