Looking straight up at it

This one is taken from underneath, which is the only angle that shows what double sided actually means. One hub, one pole, and a full canopy running off each side of it. The frame is what carries the LED beads out to the rim.

Winding it shut

A hand crank on the pole opens and closes both halves together. The closed canopy sits neatly on the base in this shot, which is how it should be left whenever the patio is unattended or the wind gets up.

How long do the lights run for?

The manufacturer quotes 6 to 8 hours from a full charge across the 48 cool white beads. The panel charges in daylight and a switch on the umbrella turns the lights on, so nothing is plugged in and nothing runs on a timer. Shorter Canadian shoulder season days mean a shorter charge, so expect less in September than in July.

Is this actually one umbrella?

Yes. One pole, one crank and one hub carrying a canopy on each side. The 14.8 ft figure is the full span across both halves. Both open and close together, which is why a crank rather than a pull cord is fitted.

What is the canopy fabric?

180 GSM polyester with a PA coating. The manufacturer describes it as sun protective, fade resistant, water repellent and tear resistant. No UV protection factor is published, so we do not quote one. Their own note says to close the umbrella in severe weather.

How much deck does this need?

The table alone is 75 in by 36 in, so just over 6 ft by 3 ft. Layout guides ask for about 3 ft of clear floor on every side of a dining table so chairs pull back and people walk behind them. Plan on roughly 12 ft by 9 ft of usable surface, with the canopy overhanging past that.
