10000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control, Dark Blue, Cools up to 350 sq ft
Description
10000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner in Dark Blue
A slate blue cabinet with a front LED window, rated 10,000 BTU ASHRAE and 7,000 BTU SACC over about 350 sq ft. Four modes, a 50 pint a day dry setting and a window kit that suits hung or sliding windows up to 47 inches.
Where does it go for eight months of the year?
What usually goes wrong
A portable air conditioner is used for about ten weeks and stored for the rest. In a flat or a small house there is often nowhere to put a 50 lb white box, so it stays in the corner of the living room all winter.
How this one answers it
A dark blue cabinet reads as furniture rather than an appliance when it is parked out of season. It stands 27.5 inches tall on four castors, so it rolls to a corner without being lifted.

Two window types, one kit
Sliding sash windows and double or single hung windows both work, up to 47 inches. The kit slides into the opening and the sash closes onto it. Casement windows that crank outward need a panel cut for the opening instead, so check before you order.
Pointing the air where people are
60 degrees of horizontal turn and 90 degrees of vertical tilt. In a 350 sq ft room that range is what stops the cooling piling up in one corner. Sweep it for a full room, fix it for one seat.

What is on the back and underneath
Two filter screens, a drainage hole for the supplied hose, rolling castors and a built-in handle. The LED display sits on the front rather than the top, so you can read it from across the room without standing over it.

Rooms where the unit stays visible
A dark blue cabinet reads far less like an appliance than gloss white in the same spot.
Living spaces up to 350 sq ft
The maker's coverage figure, tied to the 7,000 BTU SACC rating.
Homes with hung or sliding windows
The kit covers both types up to 47 inches, with no drilling or fixing.

Frequently asked questions
Is the dark blue model the same as the white one?
Yes. Capacity, modes, air flow, weight and accessories all match. Only the cabinet colour and the front LED panel finish change.
Which capacity figure should I trust?
Both, for what they measure. ASHRAE 10,000 BTU is a fixed laboratory rating; SACC 7,000 BTU is the seasonally adjusted one and the number the 350 sq ft coverage is based on. Danby notes SACC is generally lower for the same machine.
Will it work in a basement with a small hopper window?
Only if the opening is within the kit's 47 inch limit and the sash closes onto the panel. Many basement windows crank or hinge open, and those need a panel cut to the opening rather than the sliding kit supplied.
Where does the heat go?
Out through the exhaust hose at the window, along with the heat the compressor makes. That is why the hose must reach outside and why a snug seal around the kit is worth the extra effort.
