Opening and closing it

The pole carries a crank handle at standing height. Fifteen feet of canvas is a lot of sail, so wind it shut whenever you leave the patio for the day. Both canopies drop together.

Late in the day

Evening, house lights on behind the patio. The canopy is still up and the set is still in use, chairs pushed out rather than stacked away. Nothing in this set plugs in or charges, so any light after dark is whatever you carry out to the table yourself. A red canopy holds its colour under warm porch light better than a pale one does.

All eight chairs stack for storage, and six of them push right under the table when the patio needs to be clear.

The tabletop and the armrests are burr free acacia wood, which is what stops the whole set reading as plastic.

Each seat cushion is 2.3 in thick with a zipped polyester cover you can pull off and wash after a spill.

One centre pole carries two canopies, 15 ft tip to tip, so the shade lands down the length of the table instead of only in the middle.

Two weighted bags sit on the stand and hold up to 180 lb filled. Sand is not supplied, so pick it up locally.

The hole is cut to the pole, so the umbrella sits square through the table rather than rattling in an oversized opening.

The dimension drawing gives 400 lb for each armchair and 165 lb for the tabletop, which is more than most sets bother to publish.

The weave is polyethylene rattan on a metal frame. It does not absorb rain the way natural cane does and it does not mind a freeze.

Does the red canopy fade?

No fade rating is published for this fabric, so we do not claim one. Any outdoor canvas in Canadian summer sun will shift over seasons, and darker dyes usually show it soonest. Winding it closed when the patio is not in use is the simplest protection there is.

Does the umbrella base come filled?

No. The stand arrives with two empty weighted bags and you fill them yourself, up to 180 lb between them. Play sand from any hardware shop does the job. Fill them once the umbrella is standing where you want it, because 180 lb does not move easily.

What happens to the cushions in the rain?

The covers unzip and come off, which is the part that matters. Outdoor cushion guidance is consistent: polyester covers shed a shower but soak through in a long soak, and wet foam holds damp for days. Stand them on edge to drain after rain and bring them in if a wet week is forecast.

How much patio does this set need?

The table alone is 71 in by 35 in. Layout guides ask for about 3 ft of clear floor on every side of a dining table so chairs can pull back and people can walk behind them. That works out at roughly 12 ft by 9 ft of usable deck or patio, and the 15 ft canopy will overhang past that.
