One pole, one crank

From the side the pole and its crank handle are clear. A twin canopy weighs more than a single, so a crank rather than a pull cord is what makes it a one person job. Both halves open together.

Evening use

Dusk, house lights on behind. The canopy stays up and the table stays usable after the sun goes. There is no wiring and no solar panel in this set, so lighting is whatever you bring to the table.

How wide is the shade compared with the table?

The canopy spans 15 ft. The table is 71 in long, a little under 6 ft. That leaves roughly 4 ft of canopy past each end of the table, which is what covers the chairs at the ends. Height is 8 ft, so people walk under it standing up.

Does the umbrella base come filled?

No. The stand arrives with two empty weighted bags and you fill them yourself, up to 180 lb between them. Play sand from any hardware shop does the job. Fill them once the umbrella is standing where you want it, because 180 lb does not move easily.

What happens to the cushions in the rain?

The covers unzip and come off, which is the part that matters. Outdoor cushion guidance is consistent: polyester covers shed a shower but soak through in a long soak, and wet foam holds damp for days. Stand them on edge to drain after rain and bring them in if a wet week is forecast.

How much patio does this set need?

The table alone is 71 in by 35 in. Layout guides ask for about 3 ft of clear floor on every side of a dining table so chairs can pull back and people can walk behind them. That works out at roughly 12 ft by 9 ft of usable deck or patio, and the 15 ft canopy will overhang past that.
