Is cream linen practical with children?

It is a light colour on a woven fabric, so it will show more than a dark one. Linen does not crush like a pile fabric and it vacuums cleanly, but it holds stains and it fades in a window with hard afternoon sun. Blot rather than rub, and check the care code on the label before any liquid cleaner.

Can the ottoman really take an adult's weight?

The maker prints 300 lb for the ottoman as a static rating, which is weight resting evenly on the lid. It is not a figure for standing on the edge or dropping onto it.
