With no frame inside, this one is lifted, folded and carried as foam rather than furniture. It arrived compressed in a box and it moves the same way, which is a different proposition from a rigid two metre shell.

Straight on, with nothing behind it

Where the 62 inches go

Of the 62 inch width, 47 inches is seat and the rest is a 7 inch arm at each end. The seat cushions are 24 inches across, 16.5 deep and 9.5 thick, at 17.5 inches off the floor, with 26 by 17 inch back cushions. Total height and depth are both 31.5 inches. The 16.5 inch seat depth is noticeably shallower than the 21 to 24 inch sofa standard.

Under the ribs

Does it stay flat on carpet?

The base is non slip and there are no legs, so it rests on the whole underside rather than four points. On deep pile carpet it will settle into the pile slightly, which lowers the seat a little from the stated 17.5 inches.

How long does the foam take to recover?

About 72 hours after unpacking on a flat floor. A cold room slows the process, so if the carton has come off a winter truck give it longer before deciding the shape is wrong.

How do I stop the corduroy matting?

Vacuum along the ribs rather than across them with an upholstery head, blot spills instead of rubbing, and brush the pile back in the direction of the ribs after any cleaning. Most flattening on corduroy is crushed pile, not lost fibre, and it lifts again.

Can two adults sit comfortably?

Yes for upright sitting. The seat run is 47 inches with two 24 inch cushions, which is proper two seat width. The limit is depth rather than width: 16.5 inches is short if either person likes to tuck their legs up.
