The shovel is part of the purchase, not a photo prop. It is sized for a child and it fits the bed. Everything else on the truck is moulded plastic over an iron frame, with LED lamps set into the nose.

How the bed works

Three steps and the maker shows each one: press the button, the tailgate swings open, the hopper tips. It runs on the same battery as the drive, so nothing has to be pumped or cranked by hand.

What is under it

Two 35 W motors and a soft start. The published band is 3 to 8 km/h, so the low end is a stroll and the high end is a brisk walk. Soft start means it gathers pace instead of jumping off the line.

The numbers the maker prints

48 in long, with the bed dimensions marked separately. The same drawing carries the two figures that matter most: suitable for 3 years and up, and a maximum weight of 110 lb for the truck as a whole.

One push raises the hopper. The tailgate opens so the load actually leaves the truck.

Does the dump bed really lift by itself?

Yes. It is an electric lifting bed worked by one button, and the tailgate opens so the load slides out. The maker shows all three stages in its own photo panel.

How much can two children weigh together?

110 lb is the maximum weight capacity the manufacturer publishes for the truck, and it covers everyone on board. The recommended age is 3 years and up.

How fast does it go?

3 to 8 km/h from two 35 W motors, with a soft start so it pulls away gently. An adult walks at about 5 km/h, which puts the top of the range at a brisk walking pace.

Is it certified?

The manufacturer states the truck is certified by ASTM. That is their claim rather than ours, and no certificate number is published on the listing, so we do not quote one.

Can a parent drive it?

Yes. There are two modes: the child using the foot pedal, or an adult using the 2.4 GHz remote. Starting in remote mode is the sensible way to introduce a younger child to it.

What is in the box?

The truck, the shovel and an instruction booklet. The 12 V 7 Ah battery is fitted. Charging a 12 V toy battery typically takes 8 to 12 hours, and Canadian retailers advise unplugging it once it is full.
