Doors that open on a ride on car are usually a disappointment. They flop shut on a child's arm, or they need holding while a small person climbs in, which defeats the point of having them.

Both doors here are mounted on gas rods, the same idea as a car boot strut. They lift and stay up on their own, so a child gets in without anyone holding a door, and they lock shut once the belt is on.

The gas rod up close
