Four feet each, two across

Each tree is four feet tall including its pot, which is 7.5 inches square and 10 inches high, on a two foot spread. Two of them take about the floor of a single conventional four foot tree, which is what makes a pair workable in an ordinary hall.

A pair, which is the point

One tree is decoration; two matched trees flanking a door is a composition, and it is the arrangement the manufacturer photographs first. The pot bases are what make it work from the street, because neither tree needs anything draped round it to look finished.

190 tips, 24 berries, 24 cones on each

All three counts are published per tree and all three arrive fitted. Two leaf types build the look: fine pine needles for texture, frosted PVC leaves for the wintry cast. The berries are the only strong colour and they are fixed into the branches rather than clipped on.

Eleven modes and three timers

The maker names all eleven modes on its own panel: comb, two steady settings, two mixtures, slo-glo, breathing, two more slo-glos, flash and in wave. Three timer cycles run six on and eighteen off, eight on and sixteen off, or six on, six off, three on and nine off, with four brightness levels.

Symmetry is the reason to buy two rather than one. Either side of a front door or a fireplace, a matched pair reads as deliberate, and the timer brings both on at the same time each evening.

What are the eleven modes?

Comb, C1 steady on, C2 steady on, C1 mixture, C2 mixture, slo-glo, breathing, C1 slo-glo, C2 slo-glo, flash and in wave. C1 and C2 are the two colour channels, which is how the trees switch between colour looks.

Does each tree have its own remote and adapter?

The manufacturer lists a remote and a light controller for the product but does not state whether each tree has its own set, so we cannot promise two of each. Ask us and we will check with the supplier before you order.

How many pairs of gloves are included?

One pair for the set, which is what the record says rather than one pair per tree.

Can they stand outside?

The manufacturer photographs them either side of a front door in snow and lists porches among their uses, but publishes no ingress or weather rating. We would keep them on a covered porch rather than in open weather, and keep the adaptor connections dry.

Are the berries and cones removable?

They are fitted into the branches rather than clipped on, so treat them as part of each tree. Twenty-four clusters of berries and twenty-four cones per tree.

How do the timers work?

Three cycles: six hours on and eighteen off, eight on and sixteen off, or a split cycle of six on, six off, three on and nine off. Each repeats daily from when you set it.

Is the 4 ft measured with the pot?

Yes. The drawing shows 4 FT from the floor to the top of the foliage with the 10 inch pot included in that.
