The LEDs on this tree run four colours across nine modes, changed from a handheld remote rather than from a switch behind the furniture. The manufacturer's own photography shows the same tree lights off, warm white and colourful.

6 ft of height on a 3.1 ft spread. That is a slim profile, which is why the silhouette beside it in the graphic looks close to the tree's own width. It suits a flat or a corner where a full tree would crowd the room.

The same tree, three ways

The three panels are the honest comparison. Unlit it is a plain green tree. On warm white it reads traditional. On colour it reads like a party. Nothing about the tree changes between them except the setting on the remote.

What the foliage is made of

100% new PVC rather than recycled, which the manufacturer states is odourless, non toxic and flame retardant. The close up shows the branch structure, which is a conventional needle cluster rather than a moulded leaf.

What the colour setting looks like

The coloured setting throws light onto the walls as well as the tree, which is worth knowing if the room is pale. It is a stronger effect than a warm white tree and it changes the whole room rather than one corner.

How many branch tips and bulbs does it have?

We do not print a figure. The manufacturer describes the tree as full bodied with many branch tips but publishes no count for either, and we will not estimate one.

What are the nine lighting modes?

On the larger sizes in this family the manufacturer lists them as warm white steady on, colour steady on, warm white slow fade, colour slow fade, warm white and colour slow flash, warm white and colour quick flash, warm white and colour slow fade, warm white and colour slow bright and fade, and combination. The mode list is not separately printed for the 6 ft.

Does the remote need line of sight?

The manufacturer does not state a working distance or method for the remote, so we cannot say. Keep the receiver end of the light string reachable when you position the tree.

How much floor space does it need?

3.1 ft across at the widest branches, so a floor circle of about three and a half feet.
