The base runs 31 by 24 inches under a 43 inch tree. That is an unusually wide footprint, and it is what lets the condo hang out to one side of the trunk without the whole thing wanting to lean.

Jute on the trunk itself

A band of jute rope is wrapped around the pear wood rather than around a separate post. The cat climbs the trunk and scratches the same piece of wood it is standing on, which is about as close to the real thing as indoor furniture gets.
