14000 BTU WiFi Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier and 24H Timer, 750 sq ft, Black
Description
14000 BTU WiFi Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier and 24H Timer
Everything on this one can be reached from the app: the four modes, three fan speeds, the 24 hour timer, the swing and the child lock. Rated 14,000 BTU ASHRAE and 10,000 BTU SACC over 750 sq ft, with 282 CFM of air flow and a 47 decibel noise floor.
The setting you can never change from where you are sitting
What usually goes wrong
On most portable air conditioners the remote covers temperature and fan speed, and everything else means walking over to the panel. Child lock, swing and the timer in particular tend to live on the machine only.
How this one answers it
The app carries the lot: cool, dry, fan and sleep modes, three fan speeds, the 24 hour timer, the swing and the child lock. The panel and remote still work, so nothing depends on a connection.
The difference between a connected appliance and a genuinely smart one is how much of it the app can actually reach. On this unit it is everything, which is less common than the wifi badge suggests.

Everything the app can reach
Eight controls, not two: the four modes, the three fan speeds, the 24 hour timer, the swing and the child lock. That is the whole machine from a phone. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are supported on top, and the panel still works if you would rather not connect it.
The capacity, and how to read it
14,000 BTU is the ASHRAE figure. The seasonally adjusted SACC rating is 10,000 BTU, and the 750 sq ft coverage is quoted against that. Air flow is 282 CFM and the set point runs from 61 to 90 F, which covers everything from a mild June evening to a July heat wave.

Three details you use every season
A 75 degree powered swing to spread the air, filters that pull out for a rinse under the tap, and a tie that holds the 6.2 ft cord instead of letting it trail. The cabinet is 28.5 inches tall on a 16.5 by 14 inch base and weighs 67 lb.
What it does after midnight
Sleep mode, a 24 hour timer and a display off setting, with a noise floor of 47 decibels. For a 14,000 BTU machine that is quiet: most units at this capacity sit in the low fifties, which is the level at which people start switching them off to sleep.

What you get
Full app and voice control
Modes, fan speeds, timer, swing and child lock are all reachable from the app, with Alexa and Google Assistant support.
14,000 BTU ASHRAE, 10,000 BTU SACC
750 sq ft of coverage quoted against the seasonally adjusted figure.
As low as 47 dB
Low for this capacity, with sleep mode and a display that switches itself off.
7.95 CEER on R32
A published efficiency rating on a modern refrigerant.
65 pints a day dry mode
31 litres a day, with a 25.5 inch drain hose supplied.
75 degree auto swing
Sweeps the air across a large room rather than aiming it at one spot.
Child lock
Available on the panel and in the app, so a set temperature stays set.
115V at 11.5 A
A standard Canadian household socket. Give it its own outlet rather than sharing a circuit.

Frequently asked questions
Does it need a special outlet?
No, but give it a circuit of its own. The manufacturer specifies 115V at 60Hz with a rated input current of 11.5 A, which is a standard Canadian household socket. At that draw it is close to the continuous limit of an ordinary 15 amp circuit, so plug it straight into the wall and avoid sharing with a kettle or a space heater.
Which BTU figure should I size my room from?
The SACC figure, 10,000 BTU, which is what the 750 sq ft coverage is quoted against. ASHRAE 14,000 BTU is measured in fixed laboratory conditions, and Danby notes SACC comes out lower for the same machine because it reflects a real cooling season.
Do I need the app to use it?
No. The touch panel and the remote do everything on their own. The app and the voice assistants are additions rather than requirements, which matters if the wifi drops or you would rather not connect an appliance at all.
What windows does the kit suit?
Sliding windows and single or double hung windows with an opening between 25.5 and 47 inches. Crank out casement windows need a panel cut to the exact opening, because a sliding kit cannot seal against that frame.
