194 CFM of air flow from a cabinet only 11 inches deep is the trick here: full living room capacity in a footprint that still fits beside a sofa. Rated 10,000 BTU ASHRAE and 6,000 BTU SACC on R32 refrigerant, at 52 dB.
Capacity usually costs floor space. This one keeps the slim cabinet of the 8,000 BTU models in the same range and puts a bigger coil and fan inside it.
Slim cabinet, full size output
11 by 12 inches on the floor and 27.5 inches tall, which is the same footprint the 8,000 BTU units in this range use. The carton holds the slider kit, exhaust duct, adapter, connector, drain hose and remote, so nothing else is needed.
The four things you handle over a season
The drain hose pushes onto the rear port. The filter slides out and rinses under a tap. Two recessed grips give you something to hold. Four swivel wheels let a 48 lb machine be moved with one hand.
Eight keys, one of them a lock
Sleep, lock, timer, the two temperature arrows, fan speed, mode and power. The lock key freezes the panel, which is the one worth knowing about if the unit sits at toddler height. The remote reaches from 16.5 ft.

Does it need anything more than a wall socket?
No. The manufacturer's specification gives 115V at 60Hz drawing 7.8 A, which is a standard Canadian household outlet on a normal circuit. The cord is 5.6 ft, which is on the short side, so position it with that in mind.
Which BTU number matches my room?
The SACC one, 6,000 BTU. It is the seasonally adjusted rating that reflects a real cooling season, and Danby notes it runs lower than the ASHRAE laboratory figure for the same machine. The 450 sq ft coverage is the maker's own claim against it.
Some assembly is listed. What does that involve?
Fitting the window slider kit into the opening and connecting the exhaust duct, adapter and connector. No tools are needed and nothing is fixed to the building.
How much water will it make?
Dry mode is rated 51 pints, or 24 litres, a day at full tilt. What you actually see follows the humidity in the room. Fitting the drain hose means it never has to be emptied by hand.
