Where 559 tips go on a small tree

The close up shows the tips layered along each branch rather than only at the ends. Canadian Tire's own guide puts it simply: the higher the tip count, the fuller the tree looks. At four feet, 559 is what gives it the tiered spruce profile.

How long should it take to put up?

Standing the two sections in the folding stand takes a couple of minutes. The shaping takes longer. Work from the bottom branch up, spreading the tips out from the central wire, and wear the gloves that come with it.

How many lights will it need?

That is your call, which is the point of an unlit tree. Whatever string you choose, Health Canada advises looking for a CSA, cUL or cETL mark on it and switching it off before bed.

Is 2.8 feet wide a lot for a four foot tree?

It is a full profile rather than a slim one. Mark a circle of about three feet where you plan to put it. If that is too much floor, a pencil or slim tree of the same height is the better shape.

Does it store flat?

Reasonably. Two sections and a stand that folds, and no light string to coil. Keep it somewhere dry so the tips do not take a set from being crushed.
