Two hundred and ninety PVC tips is a modest count, but a half tree only has to fill the half you can see, so it looks fuller than the number suggests. The 250 warm LEDs are already wired through them, and the treetop is reinforced where a thin tree usually droops.

Is the back really missing?

Yes. It is a tree split down its length, so there are no branches behind. Against a wall or in a corner you cannot tell, but it will look wrong standing free in a room.

Does it come with a plastic cap on it?

The manufacturer notes a plastic cap that should be removed before installation and says it has no function. If yours is damaged or absent on arrival, nothing about the tree is affected.

What do the 8 modes do?

They include steady on, slow fade and moving patterns such as waves and a comb effect, with more besides. The manufacturer does not list all eight by name, so we do not invent the rest.

How full does 290 tips look?

Fuller than the number suggests, because all of them face forward. A round tree spends half its tips on the side you never see, which is where the saving comes from.

Will it stand up on its own?

It stands on an iron stand and weighs about six pounds, so it is stable but light. Against a wall it is fine; in a busy hallway with a dog or a toddler, put something behind the stand.
