Does it need a special outlet?

No. The manufacturer's specification gives 115V at 60Hz with a rated 1,099 W, which is a standard Canadian household socket on a normal circuit. The cord is 6 ft, so choose a spot within reach of an outlet.

What does sleep mode actually do?

What size window does the kit suit?
